Nallur Kandaswamy temple, Jaffna. The presiding deity being Lord Subramanya or Murugan.
Quick googling will reveal its history which dates back to the 17th century.
Grand. Awe inspiring edifice. Maintained very well.
I entered the temple at 4.45 PM. The sanctum sanctorum was still closed.
At 5PM sharp, the deity is revealed with the resplendent Aarathi of several lamps accompanied by continuous ringing of the ‘mani’ or bell with Nadaswaram and thavil.
And then the chief priest along with his deputy followed by devotees walks round the temple performing Aarathi at various small shrines with deities yet unrevealed.
All along, devotees chant Muruganukku Harohara !
Faith. Sublime. Ecstatic.
