So near..yet so far…… My Bhutan trip aborted.. I did decent bit of research and had enough dope on ‘things to do’ in Bhutan, the ‘happiness’ country and was all set for a five day exploration. And the PARO festival was also happening. Especially got a lot of inputs from Varun Abhiram’s (Karthik Karthik Abhiram’s brother) http://varunabhiram.com/2012/09/a-budget-trip-to-bhutan/ But my happiness was cut short at the entry point to Bhutan, a small town named PHUENTSHOLING. “Sorry Sir ! We don’t issue permits for solo travellers.” Only group tours are encouraged. They fear for the safety of a solo traveller. Cursing myself for not doing sufficient R&D, I chumma clicked around Phuentsholing! Hopefully next time through a tour operator!
